I have this idea... i need your help to find a full sun hanging water plant.?

I currently have ferns hanging on my front porch and they seem to be not only wilting ( I water them twice a day and mist them often ) but the wasps and yellow jackets seem to love them. We have a lot of flies here as well. I have heard that if you hang a bag of water that it will keep the flies away. So here's my idea. I want to hang some kind of clear gl bowl or vase and have a water plant in it. Preferably one that doesn't need soil but whatever. I am hoping that it will not only look cool but also get rid of the flies. But I need to know a plant that can survive full sun, look really cool, and be a water only plant. I need some ideas or maybe some experiences with this notion. I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this. Remember full sun is a must! Thanks in advance. :)
