What U.S state would be the best candidate for solar power plants?

The state with the most hours of sun per year. Any of the desert states would be reasonable: Eg New Mexico or Arizona. the sun reason is that further south has more intense sun. And deserts have less cloud. Moon doesn't come into it. You might cite it in California so it would be close to L.A, for convenience.
